Perturbations textuelles de la vidéosurveillance dans l’art contemporain

Depuis les années 1990, les relations entre art contemporain et vidéosurveillance se développent en écho à la multiplication des caméras de contrôle dans l’espace urbain. Inscrits dans une mouvance contestataire, des artistes engagés, tels Banksy, Mobstr, Fra Biancoshock ou le collectif Surveillance Camera Players, ont choisi de s’exprimer in situ, au contact direct de ces caméras de surveillance. Leurs perturbations textuelles, impliquant parfois leurs propres corps ou celui de spect-acteurs, confrontent les regards humain et numérique pour mieux questionner notre rapport au voir et au pouvoir.

Since the 1990s, the relationship between contemporary art and CCTV grow with the proliferation of surveillance cameras in urban areas. The artists involved in this protest movement, such Banksy, Mobstr Fra Biancoshock or collective Surveillance Camera Players have chosen to express themselves in situ, directly in contact with these cameras. Their textual disturbances, which sometimes involve the artist or the spect-actor’s body, confront the human and the digital gazes, and question our relation with seeing and power.
